Trivia (Who Fax)
- This was The Doctor Who Audio Dramas' take on Frankenstein.
- Moira's mother, JoAnne Skye, was based on writer Shelly Dean's own mother.
- The character of Josie McCoy was named after the lead character of the same name from Josie and the Pussycats.
- The hospital Orderly was based on an orderly from the movie The Day After.
- The Doctor actually plays no part in the resolution of the story.
- It was the writers' plan to portray the government officials as competent but overwhelmed.
- The navy base is a real base in San Diego, California. The restaurant mentioned by Moira's sister is also real.
- Robin-Mary Manseth wrote the majority of this story, working from a base premise written by [Shelly] Dean. Manseth met with Dean on numerous occasions to flesh out the plot.
- The number of dead mentioned in Episode 1 was exponentially less than what was scripted, the actor misstating the number.
- The line where Capt Hanagraff says he doesn't owe Thomas Skye any more favours is a tribute to the same line from the movie Midway.
- In the end, [Robin-Mary] Manseth was unhappy with Episode 1, feeling that it did not bring across the sheer devastation of the pandemic that she wanted.
